DECOLORIZATION OF PAPER EFFLUENT USING INDION ELECTRO - COAGULATION (EC) TECHNOLOGY

In the process of colored paper production, colored effluent with high suspended solids, BOD and COD is generated. This effluent is treated by conventional treatment to remove these impurities. The effluent generated contains TSS, color, BOD and COD, which is not acceptable in recycling for process application.

Existing conventional methods feed entire effluent load on Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and hence incur huge capital and operational costs for waste management systems.

INDION Electro - Coagulation (EC) along with precipitation method is utilized to remove impurities such as COD, Color, BOD & TSS, prior to recycling water treatment process. This reduces load on Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) & results in saving of ETP cost.

INDION Electro - Coagulation (EC) system is compact and occupies less space. As compared to conventional alum or ferric hydroxide method, sludge formed by INDION EC tends to be readily settable and easy to de-water, this is because metallic oxides/ hydroxides have no residual charge. The INDION EC process has advantage of removing smallest colloidal particles, because the applied electric field neutralizes any residual charge, there by facilitating coagulation.
